BILLY CORGAN, DAVE NAVARRO Launch SPIRITS IN THE SKY Tour in California

SPIN.com reports that SMASHING PUMPKINS mainman Billy Corgan launched his latest endeavor, SPIRITS IN THE SKY, Wednesday night (August 26) at the tiny, 225-capacity Cellar Door in Visalia, California, with JANE'S ADDICTION axeman Dave Navarro, fresh from his band's massive tour with NINE INCH NAILS, joining in on guitar.

The band played 17 songs, with the only familiar jams being "Song for a Son", which the PUMPKINS played on tour last year, and a cover of the VELVET UNDERGROUND's "Femme Fatale".

SPIRITS IN THE SKY also includes Mark Weitz of STRAWBERRY ALARM CLOCK, Mark Tulin of THE ELECTRIC PRUNES and Kerry Brown of CATHERINE AND THE ANCIENT CHINESE SECRETS.
